The Disciple Covenant Conference
Something New: For You – Your Team – Your Congregation

Hello, Beautiful People of South Georgia!

Why: Are you longing for fellowship, purpose, direction, or healing in your Christian walk? If the answer is yes, the Disciple Covenant Conference (DCC) will help build Bible-based values and continue your improvement to become the best Disciple of Christ you can be. You will also work with others on your team to help your congregation in "Growing a Christlike World."

What: The Disciple Covenant Conference (DCC) is an experience where clergy, staff and laity come together to develop and improve personal and congregational covenants based on the timeless values of our faith. A covenant is an agreement made with God and others to change your direction and improve your work and life. It is critical that we plan and set goals while striving to achieve our endeavors.

What makes the DCC new?

  • A different approach to team development and creation of a covenant to aid in "Growing a Christlike World."
  • Teams are not only clergy led. Teams that may benefit from this event include:
    • Clergy-Lay Teams
    • Youth Group Teams
    • Young Adult Sunday School Classes
    • United Methodist Women
    • United Methodist Men
    • Choirs, Musicians, and Bands
    • Evangelism Teams
    • Sunday School Classes
    • Wesley Foundations
  • A focus on timeless values of the faith.
  • Building on our established foundations, the South Georgia Annual Conference looks for new ways to be vital.
Please note that this experience is not "just another program". Can it be used as a program? Yes. The values of the faith belong to all of us as Christians, and just like an automobile, you need some basic things like tires, a steering wheel, an engine, a transmission, etc. Prayer, for example, should be a part of every disciple’s and congregation’s plan.

When: February 8 and 9, 2013.

Where: Macon Centreplex (Exhibition Hall) in Macon.

Who: Several leaders will join me in highlighting practical steps for applying these values personally as well as congregationally.

Mark your calendar now! Begin to think who will be on your team. (Hopefully 3-10 persons.) The DCC will be a blessing for you. It is an experience you will not want to miss. Look for updates on Facebook and Twitter as plans are finalized.

For more information about the DCC, please feel free to contact Pam Kanode in my office. Pam's phone number is (478) 475-9286, and her email address is: pkanode@sgaumc.com.

I look forward to seeing you again at the DCC as we explore the timeless values of the faith and Covenant to strengthen ourselves and our churches.

With love,
Your Bishop,

James R. King, Jr.
